Responsible AI Voiceover: Why Authorization Comes Before Synthesis

AIMP6 explains consent, voice ownership, synthetic media labels, and why TTS tools must prevent misuse.

Bottom line: Text-to-speech is useful for narration, accessibility, prototypes and multilingual drafts. It becomes risky when it imitates a real person without permission, creates deceptive instructions, or disguises synthetic speech as a live human recording. A media tool should make the safe path explicit before credits are spent.

AIMP6 requires an authorization confirmation for TTS jobs. The user confirms that they own or have sufficient rights to the script and voice, and will not use generated audio for fraud, harassment, deepfake impersonation or unlawful deception. This is not a substitute for legal review, but it creates a clear decision point and audit trail.

Generic stock voices are different from cloning a specific person. Generic synthesis is appropriate for ordinary narration when the content is lawful. Voice cloning should require stronger identity verification, explicit rights and project-scoped storage. AIMP6 intentionally avoids presenting unauthorized cloning as a marketing feature.

Retention is part of consent. Scripts and rendered files should have a visible deletion window—24 hours for free jobs and seven days for Pro in the current policy—and users should be able to delete files manually. Long-term voice samples should never be kept merely because they were uploaded once.

When synthetic voice is published, responsible creators label it where a reasonable listener would expect disclosure, especially for public affairs, health, finance or simulated interviews. Tooling works best when it increases production capacity without obscuring media provenance.
